Item Generative Artificial Intelligence and Linguistic Justice in University Education: A Field Study on the Impact of Mother Tongue and Academic Specialization - The Annex of the Higher School of Teachers at the University of Bouira as a Model(Revue algérienne des sciences du langage (RADSL), 2026-06-10) Houda HouacheThis research aims to investigate the role of generative artificial intelligence in achieving linguistic justice within university education, in a context characterized by multilingualism and the diversity of mother tongues and academic specialization languages. This is done through a case study of the annex of the Higher School of Teachers in Bouira. The study starts from the following problematic question: To what extent does generative artificial intelligence contribute to achieving linguistic justice within university education in light of multilingualism and different academic specializations? The research adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, based on a questionnaire directed to a sample of professors and students at the Higher School. The results subsequently showed that most of the sample members regularly use generative AI tools in various linguistic activities. They also revealed a variance in the perceptions of linguistic justice, which was linked to the difference in mother tongue and language of specialization, as some participants indicated that the representation of languages within generative AI tools remains unbalanced and is affected by the volume of available digital knowledge base for each language. The study concludes that generative artificial intelligence represents a tool with promising potential to enhance linguistic justice within university education. Item Generative Artificial Intelligence And Reducing The Cognitive Load In Language Learning: A Study In The Algerian Educational Environment(Revue algérienne des sciences du langage (RADSL), 2026-06-10) Zergui Aicha; Adder ZohraThis study examined the cognitive challenges faced by Algerian learners and teachers within a highly complex linguistic environment, where Classical Arabic, Algerian dialect, Amazigh, French, and English intersect, generating a compounded cognitive load that burdens mental processing. The study drew on Cognitive Load Theory (Sweller, 1988) and the theory of limited resources in second language processing (VanPatten, 2004). It addressed the following central question: How can generative artificial intelligence redistribute and relieve the linguistic cognitive load in the Algerian educational context? Three main axes were examined: the patterns of cognitive load resulting from multilingualism in Algeria; the potential of generative AI as a linguistic cognitive mediator; and the proposal of an integrated theoretical framework linking cognitive psychology, applied linguistics, and artificial intelligence. The study concluded with theoretical and applied recommendations aimed at building inclusive digital learning environments that account for the linguistic specificity of the Algerian learnerItem Student Translators And Ai: Practices, Perceptions, And Challenges At The University Of Algiers 2(Revue algérienne des sciences du langage (RADSL), 2026-06-10) Brakni Malik; Khelil LamiaThis article explores how students at the translation institute of the University of Algiers 2 (Algeria) are adopting artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Using a mixed methodology combining quantitative and qualitative data collected from 150 students, the study reveals a variety of attitudes ranging from pragmatic use to ethical resistance. The analysis reveals that AI tools, particularly conversational agents, are not perceived as technical aids, but as devices that structure the learning experience and relationships with effort and educational standards. In a university context marked by tensions between massification, digital inequalities, and demands for innovation, the article argues for the critical and contextualized integration of AI in translation training, revaluing the role of the teacher as a reflective mediator. This article examines the impact of generative artificial intelligence on literary translation, based on a contrastive study of the novel Ce que le jour doit à la nuit by Yasmina Khadra. The study investigates how automated translation and human translation differ in conveying cultural, linguistic, and stylistic aspects of Francophone texts into English. The methodology involves a qualitative analysis of six representative excerpts from the novel, comparing human and AI-generated translations. Each translation was evaluated according to linguistic, cultural, stylistic, and plurilingual sensitivity criteria. The theoretical framework draws on key concepts in contemporary translation studies, including foreignization and domestication (Venuti, 1995), the preservation of the text’s “otherness” (Berman, 1984), dynamic and formal equivalence (Nida, 1964), and strategies for cultural and stylistic mediation (Spivak, 1993; Baker, 1992). The results indicate that AI-generated translations are grammatically correct and fluent, yet they simplify or neutralize cultural references, stylistic figures, and plurilingual elements, limiting the transmission of collective memory and narrative identity. Human translation, on the other hand, preserves cultural, stylistic, and poetic richness, demonstrating the essential role of human judgment in literary translation. The article concludes that AI can serve as a complementary tool for translation but cannot replace the human sensitivity required to convey the cultural and stylistic dimensions of literary works. The findings highlight the importance of hybrid practices combining AI and human expertise to ensure faithful and equitable translations in plurilingual and postcolonial contexts.Item Ia Générative, équité Linguistique Et Professionnalisation Discursive. Results reveal tension between inclusion opportunities and constraints limiting the emancipatory potential of these tools in plurilingual educationItem Intégrer L’ia Dans L’enseignement Des Langues : Enjeux Pédagogiques, éthiques Et Perspectives D’une Pédagogie Critique Et Collaborative : Entretien Avec Christian Puren , Professeur émérite Spécialisé En Didactique Des Langues Et Des Cultures(Revue algérienne des sciences du langage (RADSL), 2026-06-10) Soltani El MehdiA travers cet échange, Christian Puren explique que l’arrivée de l’intelligence artificielle générative dans l’enseignement des langues ne modifie pas automatiquement les finalités de l’école. Through this exchange, Christian Puren explains that the emergence of generative artificial intelligence in language education does not automatically change the fundamental aims of schooling. These aims remain focused on educating autonomous, critical, and responsible citizens. According to him, a true shift in the educational paradigm occurs only when teaching practices undergo lasting transformation. Within the action-oriented approach, the learner should remain a social actor engaged in collective activities. However, the use of AI may involve certain risks, such as the excessive technicization of learning and a growing dependence on digital tools. To limit these risks, Puren advocates a measured and carefully controlled integration of AI, mainly used for revising, correcting, and supporting students’ productions. He proposes a model that combines textbooks and AI in order to enrich teaching practices without replacing the teacher. The interview also addresses inequalities in the performance of AI systems across languages and suggests developing AI tools adapted to national educational contexts. This study examines the paradigmatic mutation of education in the era of artificial intelligence, exploring the dialectic between the efficiency of technological rationality and the irreducibility of anthropological proximity. It is posited that the educational act, anchored in an ontology of human relations and an embodied presence, cannot be dissolved into a mere engineering of data transfer. While AI offers unprecedented prospects for cognitive personalization and the optimization of learning pathways, its disembodied authority and algorithmic infallibility risk obscuring the heuristic function of error, sacrificing the time essential for intellectual maturation, and undermining the social fabric. Drawing upon the necessity for emotional security and identification with human models—whether parental or magisterial—the article advocates for an "augmented presence" where technology, far from substituting for the human element, becomes a lever for emancipation that allows the pedagogue to refocus on ethical guidance and the awakening of critical thought. This qualitative, exploratory study focuses on a group of ten neo-teachers enrolled in higher education establishments in Algeria (University of Khenchela and ENS d'Oran) and France (INSPÉ of Nice). It highlights the importance of initial training, which must enable the development of technical skills, reflective capacity and the power to act in response to professional demands. The socio-constructivist approach, exemplified by initiatives such as university telecollaboration, is to be seen as a framework where novices can have the opportunity to enrich their experiences and capabilities through interaction and collaboration. This article examines how I used ChatGPT to tailor a lesson plan to the needs of an adult learner of French as a second language. In a context marked by the rise of generative artificial intelligence tools, this study offers a reflection on my experience designing educational activities with ChatGPT. By adopting an autoethnographic approach, I trace the reasons that led me to explore this tool to design activities aligned with the learner’s interests and needs. This autoethnography shows that the use of ChatGPT can support a learner’s motivation and engagement through various comprehension activities, writing tasks, thematic discussions, and cultural comparisons perceived as relevant. It also highlights the challenges involved in adjusting AI-generated suggestions to educational objectives and the learning context. While the results are based on a specific teaching experience and are not intended to be generalized, they illustrate the central role of the teacher in analyzing, selecting, and contextualizing ChatGPT's suggestions. The article thus proposes avenues for the critical and thoughtful use of this tool in the design of educational activities for adult learners.
