Abstract
This research falls within the framework of political discourse analysis and adopts an
enunciative approach to examine the role and function of reported speech in constructing and
deconstructing representations related to Islam. The study focuses on the analysis of President
Bouteflika’s political speeches delivered in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The study corpus consists of a set of political speeches on interculturality, covering the period
from 2001 to 2009. The analysis highlights both the positive and negative representations
associated with Islam, as well as the ways in which these speeches contribute to shaping modes
of perception and social relations
