    إذا كانت الترجمة اليوم علما وفنا، فهي البوابة التي من خلالها تنتقل الثقافات والحضارات من عصر إل عصر ومن بلد لآخر وهو، ما أدركه مبكِّرا رواد النهضة العربية الحديثة، فمنذ مشروع محمد علي باشا، تبين أنه لا يمكن للعالم العربي أن يتقدم إلا إذا تمكن من ناصية العلوم الحديثة ومن النظم والمعارف الغربية، فكانت الترجمة هي الجسر الذي من خلاله يمكن العبور والانتقال إلى عالم النهضة والخروج من التخلف.     لقد اهتم علماء الإسلام في المغرب الإسلامي بالعلوم العقلية كاهتمامهم بالعلوم النقلية أو أشد من ذلك، وقد انطلقوا في ذلك من فكرة التصنيف من حيث المصدر إما أن تكون نقليه بيانية، أو عقلية كسبية. وإما من حيث الوظيفة وهنا طرحوا فكرة التكامل المعرفي أو البحث عن الهدف العام الكلي المشتركة وهي الرؤية الشاملة للكون والحياة ،علم العمران عند ابن خلدون ، أو المعرفة بالحق عند المغيلي.
