The study of the Moriscos in Ottoman Algeria offers a fascinating insight into the interaction between diverse cultures within a varied historical context. The Morisco question remains a debated topic and has sparked growing interest among researchers, making it crucial to understand it in the context of the Spanish and Ottoman empires. The stance of the latter regarding the Morisco tragedy has been controversial, characterized by two distinct periods: one of natural alliance between Ottomans and Moriscos to consolidate their power in Algeria, and another in which the Ottomans dispensed with Morisco support. From a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates historiography, sociology, and the exploration of archival Ottoman and Spanish historical sources and testimonies, the study addresses the insertion or integration of the Moriscos into Algerian society over time. They inserted themselves into Ottoman society and, under colonial Algeria, were assimilated, leading to cultural mestizaje. ar_AR
