The archivist's profession has evolved in tandem with the growing volume of
documents produced by administrations and institutions, exerting significant
pressure on available resources. Developed countries have proactively
addressed this issue, investing in specialized training and establishing
professional associations. Consequently, these efforts have elevated the status
of archivists. In line with this, the Algerian state has endeavored to enhance
the recognition of the archival profession by bolstering legislative measures.
However, the lack of attention from administrative authorities responsible for
the archival sector, along with the indifference of archivists themselves, has
hindered progress in this regard.
